About Port Stephens
A diverse region surrounded by natural beauty.

Port Stephens is a naturally beautiful area, with plenty of reasons to visit all year round. In truth, it’s not a town in its own right, but rather a region that is divided into different areas; the Tomaree Peninsula, the Tilligerry Peninsula and the Golden Bight all surrounding the bay.

So much to see and do at Port Stephens

An idyllic coastal Paradise where the emphasis is on pleasure. From the fabulous scenery typified by volcanic peaks along the coastline to crystal clear bays fringed by golden sand, Port Stephens has lots to offer.

Cruise out onto the Bay to enjoy a two hour Dolphin Watch with the resident bottlenose dolphins, or even go Whale Watching. Take in a little history enjoying morning tea at the Inner Lighthouse. If you want to do something really different, have a swim at the local nudist beach. Whatever your reason for visiting Port Stephens we guarantee you'll have the best of times.

Port Stephens caters to almost every facet of sport including tennis, golf, scuba diving, fishing, surfing, skiing and sailing.

You can also ride a dune bike or go tobogganing on the 30m Stockton Beach sand dunes. Spend some time at one of Port Stephens' many magnificent beaches. Hike up the Tomaree and Yacaaba headlands. Enjoy a trip on one of the many cruises, watching dolphins, whales and birdlife. Visit the galleries, arts and craft museums and weekly craft markets. Drop a line in the Bay or try your hand at deep sea fishing. Hire a Jet Ski, snorkel or learn to Scuba Dive. Visit the Wetlands Centre, the Tilligerry Wildlife Habitat or wander through the Shell Museum.

Port Stephens Climate

The climate is warm year round with no winter frosts, and cool sea breezes keep the temperature mild in the summer. During the warm Summer the area is a great escape for Sydneysiders after quieter beaches than Sydney can offer. In Spring the whole area comes alive with native wildflowers, while Port Stephens Weather is still pleasantly warm. From late May through July the area is an excellant place to watch the thousands of migrating whales pass by.
