Go camel riding on Stockton Beach and enjoy horse riding at Anna Bay in Port Stephens.
Port Stephens is a place of breath-taking beauty. With bright, sandy beaches, calm weather and a serene ambience, and it has certainly built itself a reputation as a place to take it easy. Port Stephens is located two-and-a-half hours north of Sydney, along the East Coast of Australia, and many visitors choose to spend their leisure time with riding activities. Except in Port Stephens you have a choice of two.
One of the quirkiest experiences in Port Stephens is camel riding. With soft, silky sand at the beaches, the environment is perfect for camel riding, and the kids love it. The experience is certainly unique, especially if you ride at sunset, and this activity has proven popular with people of all ages. Camel riding trips are offered at Anna Bay, also places may be limited, so you should always book ahead.
For a more conventional experience you should try horseriding at Anna Bay. This has proved to be an extremely rewarding experience for experienced and novice riders alike. The usual ride is a mixture of trail-riding through the bush, before emerging at the beach to cross the sand. A dusk ride at sunset is recommended because of the added serenity of this experience. You can either join a group tour, or arrange to ride solo or with a guide.
Anna Bay has a few horse-riding operators to choose from and is the best place to head to for the experience. Here you can ask for Sahara Trails, whom provide both camel and horse rides. Or you could head to Birubi Beach and go with Oakfield Ranch for a camel ride. Most camel rides take place on Sundays, although you can pre-arrange to go at other times. Camel rides last around 20 minutes, or you can request a ride that lasts up to an hour. Horserides can last up to half a day, and you can even combine your trip with a camel ride as part of the same package.
